directly to the web form for ordering journal volumes from the stacks

Books and other media (e.g. maps or music) can be ordered from our stacks (German “Magazin”) from Monday till Friday for borrowing or viewing. All media can be ordered for free.

How do I know that a title is in the stacks?

In the OPAC, "Stacks" appears under "Location".

How do I know a book can be ordered online?

In the OPAC, the loan status is "available for loan", next to it the button "Request". After clicking on the button "Request", please enter your library user number (3100...) and your password. Confirm the order after checking the meta data of the copy.

Which books have to be ordered by the web form?

This applies to all media that do not have a "Request" button next to them (these can only be viewed in the reading area) or are not already registered in the OPAC (but in the digitized card catalogues). Please enter your order information in the web form for books and send it to us.

How do journals differ from other media that can be ordered?

Journals are generally not available for loan. The last 5 years of a periodical journal held on an ongoing basis are available for in-house use in the open stacks area on the ground floor. Normally, all journal stocks older than 5 years are housed in the stacks. Please use the given web form for journals, fill it and send it to us. We require you to enter at least your personal information (library user number and name), title and signature of the journal as well as the desired year/volume and issue.

When and where can the orders be picked up??

You can place orders before 4 p.m. Monday to Friday. The orders can be collected one hour later at the circulation desk on the first floor. We keep “Magazin” stack orders ready for you for 7 calendar days (or longer upon request).
