Support for Open Acces Publications

Increase the impact of your research on a global scale. Our publication fund supports Gold Open Access articles and books that are not covered by existing publishing contracts.

Gold articles

Funding Requirements

You are a member of the Otto-von-Guericke-University Magdeburg (except FME).
You are the ‘corresponding author’ and list OVGU as your first affiliation. Compliance with Otto von Guericke University’s affiliation policy is required.
The journal is listed in the Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ).
You submit the invoice immediately upon receipt. The invoice only includes the Open Access publication costs (Article Processing Charges, APC), but not administrative fees, submission fees or fees for e.g. licensing, colour illustrations, page numbers etc.
No third-party funding for publishing is available.

Gold OA Books

Funding Requirements

You are a member of the Otto-von-Guericke University Magdeburg (except FME). In the case of edited volumes with authors from outside the University, partial funding may be provided.
You are the ‘corresponding author’. Compliance with Otto von Guericke University’s affiliation policy is required.
The publisher is listed in the Directory of Open Access Books (DOAB) or is a member of the Open Access Scholarly Publishers Association (OASPA).
The publisher publishes the book Open Access under a CC licence (recommended: CC BY) immediately after its release.
No third-party funding for publishing is available.
Gold OA books are usually funded up to 7,000 € (incl. VAT). Partial funding is possible.

Procedure

Before you submit your publication, we are happy to check its eligibility for funding: openaccess@ovgu.de
Please send us the publisher’s offer (see “Scope of Services”) for review, along with the publication contract or draft contract (see, in particular, “Rights and Licenses”).
The publisher should issue a separate invoice for the amount we have approved, which may require splitting the total invoice. The invoice must clearly specify which publication and corresponding services it covers.
Before finalizing the publication, please verify that the copyright ownership, Creative Commons license, funding acknowledgment, and affiliation information are correctly stated. Only then can the invoice be paid.
The imprint of the (print) and OA editions, as well as the webpage leading to the Open Access edition, must include a reference to funding from Otto von Guericke University Magdeburg.
