ORCID
Code for the Unique Identification of Scientific Authors
The assignment of unique identifiers for authors becomes more and more important. Especially the use of the Open Researcher and Contributor ID (ORCID) is strongly recommended. The setup is free of charge and requires little time.
Your advantages:
- Your authorship can be found unambiguously, despite name variants, name changes and different spellings.
- Your publications are clearly assigned to you and can be found.
- You can use your ORCID and your profile stored there independently of employers and research institutions.
- Your publication list at ORCID is always up to date as long as you allow trusted parties to update it automatically.
- When communicating with publishers, you only have to enter your ORCID. If the publisher is trustworthy for you (trusted party), they have access to all the information you need.
- In the case of applications and reports for research funders or third-party funders, the administrative workload can be significantly reduced.
